It was quite late in the evening when our social worker, Irene, traveled to pick up Abigail*. Her story with the AGC Baby Centre started with a few challenges but the love of Irene and the rest of the team was a constant in her life. Over the years, we’ve watched Abigail grow and meet her milestones—thriving at the centre. But she also seemed to crave individual attention that can be challenging to receive with many brothers and sisters.
Last week, she got to experience just that with her forever family! At Abigail’s going-home party, she was calm in her family’s arms, content to be snuggled in close. While the Baby Centre said goodbye through a few tears, Abigail simply held onto her mom and seemed ready to go home. We will miss her sweet smile around the centre, but nothing is better than knowing a child is in the best possible place for them—home with their family.
